Im doing a project and I need to figure out how much it costs Toyota motors to produce a Toyota camry. Any help? If not, a list of all the parts needed for that car|||There are more than 3 million parts that go into a Toyota Camry. So it would be impossible to list them all.
To be honest I think they closest you'll come to actually knowing how much it costs to produce is to go to a dealer and look at their invoice. That's what they sell them to the Dealerships for.
All Automakers are pretty tight lipped on exactly how much it costs them to produce each car.

Is it true that a catalytic converter and exhaust manifold on a Toyota Camry are one part?
The catalytic converter on my 2001 Toyota Camry needs to be replaced. The mechanic told me that the catalytic converter and exhaust manifold are all one piece and can't be changed out separately on Camrys. Is this true? Or can the catalytic converter actually be replaced independent of the manifold?|||For 2001 Toyota Camry, the catalytic converter and exhaust manifold are all one piece.
That's why they can't be changed separately.|||There's two. First one is connected to the exhaust manifold (on the 4cyl). 2nd one is on the downpipe (or y pipe in a v6). Probably one on each manifold for the v6 but don't know to tell you the truth.
It can be replaced on the manifold but it's VERY tight so you'll have to ask the guy who's welding it if he can do it...unless you live in California then you need a factory part.|||If it's the V-6 it is all one piece, but a good muffler shop should be able to cut out the converter and weld in a replacement. From the factory though, it is one piece.|||Yes just one piece.
And that car is junque.
@ Toyota Obsession, please give me the rest of my thumbs down, PLEASE......

What kind of promotions has Toyota offered for Christmas in Canada?
Toyota promotions in Canada for the past two months have been kind of lame, should I expect something better in December? I'm looking to buy a RAV4. Any suggestions on the best time to buy?|||Toyota very rarely has any good promotions. They think their reliability sells the cars for them. It's the American automakers who struggle to sell all the cars they've produced and thus offer 'deals'.|||http://www.toyota.ca/cgi-bin/WebObjects/鈥?/a>

How much for a rebuilt engine and to install in a 1992 Toyota Paseo?
Hi, I have a 1992 Toyota Paseo and it needs a new engine. I was wondering if anyone knew where I can get a rebuilt or used engine made for this car and how much it would cost and cost to put it in. I live in Oklahoma if that helps any to find where i could get one.|||You have a few options:
1. used engine from a salvage yard (prob $500)
2. used engine from Japan (prob. a bit more, but still fairly cheap)
3. new engine from a site like engineguy.com (costs more but has 100k mi warrranty)
installation is basically the same for all (easiest w/ the new engine) - checkout ericthecarguy.com for some videos of him installing engines.

How long does it take to order a Toyota Prius?
My lease is up in mid September and ordered a Jeep Patriot, but they have no idea when the vehicle will be in. I am coming down to the wire. Do Toyota dealerships typically can a wide array of Toyota Prius models? I obviously dont have 5-8 weeks..|||Funny how all the VW fans come out of the woodwork whenever anyone asks about the Prius.
By the way: Fuel economy for the 2007 Prius is 48 city / 45 highway (regular unleaded), and for the 2006 VW TDI New Beetle it is 31 city / 40 highway (diesel). Identically the same numbers for the 2006 VW Golf TDI. That's using the *NEW* mileage test results from the EPA. So the gasoline Prius still beats the diesel TDI, both in city and on the open highway. [There are no 2007 VW TDI models, that's why I listed 2006.]
Ignoring that -- most Toyota dealers have a good selection of Prius cars these days, just waiting for you to walk in and buy one. If you want a specific color and specific options, you may have to look around to more than your closest dealer, or push your dealer to trade with another dealer. But if you start looking now, you shouldn't have any problem getting a Prius you'll be happy with by mid-September.|||I've heard that a few Toyota dealerships still have waiting lists for the Prius, but most have models on the lot. I bought mine in February, and drove away with it on the same day I went to the dealership.|||Priuses are plentiful near the San Francisco Bay area at least. the 08 version hits 60 mpg city and 55 highway, so when it comes to fuel economy it's way better then the VW.
But as far as wide array of different models, well, there really isn't any wide arrays of models except for standard package and one loaded with extras that makes your car feel like the future. (as in no performance package if that's what you where thinking)|||It depends on where you live and the dealer you buy from. The honest truth is that large volume dealers get cars at a higher priority than small dealers. But they tend to mark up cars more. But the Prius comes in a just two trims and most everything you coud want is included, so unless color is a huge issue, you should be able to get the Prius you want from the lot. If not, shop around.|||Get a VW TDI model. Hybrid is only better in traffic jam/large city as far as fuel economy.|||Depends on where you live, here they have toyoto dealership but they will detur you from buying a prius because they are eggheads. And don't dare ask for a brocure because im sure they don't have them.

Plzz reply and thxxx.|||You can use this one to connect an iPod to the original radio. It also gives you an aux input for other mp3 sources.|||Your out of luck with the factory stereo. Toyota started offering the USB in the 2010 models (LE and above) with the upgraded AM/FM CD with integrated radio which includes the USB port with iPod connectivity and bluetooth.

Toyota 1989 4runner 22r what other engines can be exchanged into this?
I would like to change the engine to a newer toyota V6 engine if possible.|||You can put practically anything in it...it's just a matter of how difficult it will be.
I suppose you're looking for more power. An easy swap would be a performance-tuned 22RE from DOA racing or LC Engineering. They have v-6 power from the 4-cylinder so it's a direct swap (haha--so you only need 1 handle of Crown).
http://www.doaracingengines.com/
http://www.lcengineering.com/
The 3.0 Toyota v-6 probably isn't worth the effort. It's much heavier, doesn't produce that much more power, uses quite a bit more fuel and isn't as reliable.
If you want to go more complicated, the engines I've seen in Toyotas include the Toyota 3.4, the Buick 3.8, GM 4.3 (a common one), GM 283 (supercharged), and Ford 302. And I'm sure that's just a start to the list.
Check with Advance Adapters...they have everything you need to swap different engines in.

Don't go into this too lightly. It's a ton of work. Unless you pay someone else to do it. Then it's a ton of money.|||There is a 3.0 liter V6 that came optional with that vehicle. That the only way I'd do it.|||all depends on how new of an engine you want to install. your best bet and probably your cheapest would be to install a V6 engine that came with that model and year, you'll also have to replace the ECM (engine control module), the mounting brackets ,some of the exhaust and probably some of the wiring.
Good Luck|||It really cheaper to buy a new truck...plus the first thing the 22r eng in that truck runs forever....so you will need a engine, trans, transfercase, 2 driveshafts, drive shaft yokes, motor mounts, trans mounts, shift linkage, more than likely modify center console, crossmember, wireing harness, 2 boxes of goody's powers, 2 handles crown royal, time, welder, and the engine computer....i think this wraps up what you need.....speedometer and cable with gear...there different b/t 4 and 6 cyl.....ok now i think this wraps it up.. have fun

What is the best quality sound system to get for my 09 toyota corolla?
I bought an 09 toyota corolla XRS a year old and one of the speakers is fuzzy, not to mention that the stock speakers aren't that great anyway...I am wondering if it is possible to get a decent system installed for around $300? I don't want to deal with the hasle of installing them myself...what is the best place to go to get them installed? Thanks!|||Your local car audio shop or if you can't find an independent shop, try Best Buy. Ask if the installer is MECP certified.
It's unlikely that you'll find many places that will install a "decent" system for $300. Perhaps some independent shops may install a "no-name" brand of cheap equipment, which may not even be as good as your stock system.
You can probably get just the aftermarket speakers installed for $300. A decent set of coaxial speakers will run about $100, components even more.
A decent entry-level head unit (Alpine, Pioneer, Kenwood, JVC) will run $150 or thereabouts. Add a wiring harness, dash kit, antenna adapter, tax and installation and you're up to over $500.|||best buy or your local sterio shop

Toyota 4runner 22r what other engines can be exchanged into this?
I would like to change the engine to a newer toyota V6 engine if possible.|||It would fit but you will need different mounts, ECU, and possibly transmission. For what a new V6 will cost, you can find a 22RTE or a small block Chevy V8 engine that will fit in it for a lot less money The V8 is probably one of the most popular swaps though. I'm not a domestic car fan, but the Chevy small block V8 is reliable enough to justify installing one.
What is the best combination for a sound system in a toyota tacoma truck?
Im getting a toyota tacoma, and im wanting to put a sound system in it, with good quality sound. Im wondering what type and what size speakers i should get and what amp to go along with it?|||If you're new to car audio, you probably dont know something that you should. JL Audio makes the best of everything. Speakers, amps, subs, crossovers, EVERYTHING. It all depends on how much you want to spend.
I'd go with some nice 10" subs to go underneath the seats or behind the rear seats. JL w3s are VERY good speakers. You could get a nice $150 alpine deck and a kenwood amp for around $500 total.

We recently got into a minor accident in which we exchanged car paint with the other car and knocked out our right front blinker light. We didn't break the anything on the front or dent it, it just stopped working. Please help?|||You can reach the signal light from under the bumper. You may have to remove the plastic splash guard. You can then give the bulb socket a 1/2 turn and it will come out. You probably have a bulb that is no good.
Good luck.

What are Toyota's current Interest Rates on a new 2009 vehicle?
I am looking into purchasing a new vehicle and am curious what Toyota's current Interest Rates are. How much money in gas could I save by getting a Toyota Prius hybrid?
I am trying to figure out if I should get a Toyota Yaris sedan or spend the extra $10,000 and get a Prius. Will the prius pay off in the long run?|||It takes 10 years for a Prius to break even. Hybrids arent the best technology for better fuel economy anyway. A clean diesel can get 60 mpg easy, while costing thousands less than a hybrid system. Diesels are most common in European cars, and manufacturers like Volkswagen sell them in the US as options. The Prius is a much better car than the Yaris, although I would not suggest either mainly because of Toyotas falling quality. http://www.consumeraffairs.com/news04/20鈥?/a>
The Yaris was called a "disappointment" by ConsumerReports, which has long been criticised for being biased towards imports. The Yaris is the ultimate penalty box. A good medium between the two cars is the upcoming Saturn Astra. It has been rumored to have a hybrid option, and if it does will be much more affordable than a Prius. The upcoming Saturn Astra is light years ahead of the Yaris. It is a rebadged Opel Astra, one of the most popular cars in Europe. Nothing will be changed from the original Opel in its transition to a Saturn. It will be made in Belgium and imported into the US. Here are some reviews of the Astra.

The gas mileage should be about the same on the Yaris and Astra, since every other car currently in that segment is within 2 mpg. Here is a side to side comparison of the Yaris VS the base Astra. |||If you're only concerned with the cost, and you're comparing a Prius to a Yaris, the answer is probably not. Here is a comparison of the Prius to the Yaris liftback:
http://autos.yahoo.com/newcars/compariso鈥?/a>
As you can see, the initial cost is about $11,000 more, and the Total Cost to Own (after 5 years) is $7,000 more. Assuming that rate continues, it would take about 14 years to make up for the higher initial cost.
The thing is, the Yaris and Prius aren't comparable vehicles. The Yaris is a compact car while the Prius is a mid-sized car. It's much roomier and more comfortable, and has a lot more features. The Yaris is just sort of a cheap basic car that will get you good mileage due to its small size.
If you're also taking environmental impact into account, the Prius has a major advantage, as you can see from their Yahoo Green Ratings (84 vs. 74), and the fact that the Prius was named the world's greenest car by a recent Swiss study:
http://www.reuters.com/article/environme鈥?/a>
But just looking at cost, it would take a long time to make up for the higher initial Prius price. Of course, the cost of gas will probably continue to increase, so the Prius might save money a bit quicker. I know with the hybrid, it gets an actual 40-50 mpg. That's not bad at all! If you consider you will get about 30 actual mpg with the other vehicle, that is a possible 20mpg more with the Prius. It will pay off. Get the Prius. Very nice car.|||It depends on what kind of car you are driving now and how manny miles per week or month you drive. How to i check the cigarette lighter fuse on a 1990 Toyota pickup?
I recently figured out that my cigarette lighter isn't working on my 90 Toyota pickup. I don't know if there is a fuse thats gone out or if its the whole entire lighter. I really need the lighter for cell phone chargers and other things.|||Just put the fuse from lighter in place of another fused system of equal amperage and see if that system still works. Another thing is that its possible, whether it was used or not, that the plug might be corroded or rusted. Especially if it was used. The extreme heat from the heating coil being shorted out can cause aot of corrosion.|||the best way is with a 12 volt test lite. there are little access tabs on either side of the fuse to touch the test light to and see if it has voltage. some fuses can have a barely visible hairline crack that is tough to see-but the test light never lies...if the fuse is good, carefully check the center pin on the lighter socket to see if it has voltage, but be careful not to short against the ground sides of the lighter or you will blow the fuse. lots of lighter sockets get gunked up from accumulated cigarette ash and may need to be cleaned(key off, again so it doesnt blow the fuse) Good luck T%26amp;T

What is the black box next to the battery in a toyota solara?
My mom has a 2000 toyota solara. If she does not disconnect her battery every time she gets out of the car it kills the battery. Now she smelled it burning and noticed a howling sound. the car would not turn off. she had to disconnect the battery to make it stop. The burning smell was coming from a black box next to the battery. Open it and see if you see relays and fuses.|||That is the main fuse/relay box. you can remove the top cover and isolate the fuse or relay that looks burned. By the sound you are describing there may be an issue with one of the engines cooling fans. While the key is removed from the ignition you can open the hood and manually turn the fan blades on the fans. If one of the blades is hard to turn then the motor is locking up and causing an overcurrent situation. If it is the motor you can get one and replace it with minimal tools.|||A burn smelling black box. Just kidding...
Hon, looking in the way you asked, seems that even if we know what it is, you would not be able to fix it. The previous guy seems right on what he said. But to be honest, take it to a Service Tech and search on the phone book and ask to friends and family. Get quotes and use your best judgment.
Good luck :)|||The black box that you are refering to is the fuse and relay junction box. In this box most of the wiring for the vehicle comes together for power distribution. If you open the cover of the box you will see relays ( they look like big plastic blocks) and fues (different colored small rectangles). If the car won't turn off I would venture to say that there is possibly a relay that has been overheated and is now permantly closed. Look up the index in the users manual. Try and find the section labeled fuses/relays. There should be a diagram of which relay and fuse are associated with each section. If you are not sure how to do this, you may want to take the vehicle to the dealership and lat a certified technician work on it.

How much should I expect from the price negotiation of 2007 toyota corolla?
I want to get a new 2007 toyota corolla, and I wonder how much I should ask a dealer for when I actually negotiate. A few hundreds or a few thousands under the invoice? are a couple thousands reasonable?|||A couple of links for you:
http://missmotamouth.blogspot.com/2007/1鈥?/a>
http://www.motherproof.com/2007/11/video鈥?/a>|||Be prepared to have some convincing arguements on why anyone would sell you something below what they pay for it. Also be prepared to do the deal quickly and know what you want. Be prepared to have good credit, your chances of making that happen with bad credit are nil. Be prepared that a good deal benefits everyone, the dealership, the customer, and the salesperson, not just YOU! Be prepared and know what your payments will be assuming you get everything you want including the taxes and fees, so you don't negotiate all the big numbers and wind up being shocked at the monthly payment! As clever as you think you are, the people doing the deal can help you or jack you keep that in mind no matter what you read on Edmunds, car salespeople and car dealerships are professional negotiators, don't presume to know more than they do. Offer them 2% over invoice less all the factory incentives and drive home in your new car in an hour or so, or spend hours negotiating for money that doesn't exist. Enjoy it while it lasts, soon all vehicles will have set prices thanks to unrealistic "shoppers"|||Make an offer. It should be 15% to 20% below the maximum amount you would pay so that there is room to bargain. You may be asked about a trade-in or be urged to sign up for dealer financing. To both questions, say you are undecided. Your goal at this point is to get agreement on the car price.
Your first offer will likely be rejected. Your second offer should not split the difference between your first offer and the seller's counter offer. It should split the difference between your first offer and the maximum amount you will spend. You can use the cost estimates of repairs supplied by your mechanic to help negotiations.
Making an offer at a used car Superstore with no-haggle prices requires a different strategy. If you cannot negotiate on price, consider other aspects of the sale, such as more attractive financing, a higher trade-in price, or a longer/more inclusive warranty.
If you reach a price standoff, change the situation by taking another look at the car. Using the Buyers Inspection Checklist, you may notice problems you overlooked previously. At this point, do not agree to a deposit since you have no contract, only your offer. A deposit may give the seller the leisure to negotiate a higher price.
Some buyers feel at ease making several offers and counter-offers, simultaneously negotiating for better warranty coverage or additional equipment. They may give up $50 to $l00, but they expect something in return. If that is the case, be sure to write down any promises made by the salesperson.
Your last offer should be close to the maximum amount you would pay for the car. Be ready to justify your offer as reasonable and fair by showing how you arrived at it. Make it clear that this offer is final. If the dealership rejects it, be prepared to walk away. The salesperson may catch you in the parking lot or phone you the next day.
If the salesperson accepts an early offer but then says that the sales manager will not approve the deal, it is likely that you are being low-balled. That is, a low offer is initially accepted by the salesperson who knows it will be rejected so that a higher price can be reached in further negotiations. If that happens, leave, because low-balling is a form of dishonesty.
If the seller accepts your offer, you have a deal. The salesperson will then prepare a Buyer's Order or Purchase Agreement to be signed by you. Insist on a readable document, not a first draft. A preprinted form or computer-generated form may automatically charge you for things you have already refused so examine the contract before you sign.
Check the purchase agreement for arithmetic errors, mistaken prices, extra charges, omissions, and blank spaces.
Be sure that the information on the purchase agreement is consistent with the information in your notes.

http://www.motherproof.com/2007/11/video鈥?/a>|||Be prepared to have some convincing arguements on why anyone would sell you something below what they pay for it.

Can all of a Toyota Warranty transfer to a new owner?
I am buying a 2005 Toyota Rav4 with 12,000mi. There is currently a warranty on that car already for 72 months/100,000 miles. I want to make sure that I can have that warranty as well. I know that in some cases and with some cars that only part of the warranty transfers to the new owner.|||TOYOTA MOTOR COMPANY WILL HONOR ALL OF ITS VEHICLES FULL ORIGINAL WARRANTY REGARDLESS IF YOU ARE THE FIRST OWNER OR THE TENTH OWNER.THE ONLY TIME WARRANTY WILL BE VOIDED IS WHEN A VEHICLE HAS BEEN ISSUED A SALVAGE TITLE.AS LONG AS THE TOYOTA VEHICLE YOU ARE BUYING IS STILL UNDER WARRANTY,YOU WILL NOT HAVE ANY PROBLEM GETTING IT FIXED IF NEEDED.CONGRATULATIONS FOR YOUR 2005 RAV4.GOOD LUCK.|||It depends on the warranty|||as long as it is a factory warrenty and not what is called an extended warrenty it fully transfers
How to replace a electric fuel pump on a 1987 toyota motorhome?
I need to know how to replace a fuel pump on a 1987 toyota motorhome and where it is located.|||Fuel pumps are usually located in the fuel tank. What year of toyota pick-ups are parts compatible with a 1989 toyota pick-up?
I might be buying a 1989 toyota pick-up, 4x4 extended cab, and i was wonder what years of toyota trucks are compatible with the 89'. Just in case i need to hunt for a parts truck or something. Thanks. And if you own one, what do you think of it. The one im looking to buy has 175,000 miles on it. |||i had one this is easy.......
1989-1995 are all same body parts as long as you keep them the same for 2wd or 4wd.
ie a 4x4 wheel wont fit a 2wd. 6 bolts to 5 bolts
or body wise the front end is different. slightly but different fit.
i had a 22re and a 3vze (2.2 and 3.0) i reccommend the 22re its way better than the 3.slow i mean O.
i think they are great trucks i hate that i crashed it.it ran 400k+ miles.

How do I reattach the bumper and indicators to my Toyota Rav 4?
We have a 98 Toyota Rav 4 (5 door) and our bumper was taken off by a truck. We need to make a temporary repair, so it would be great if someone could advise as to how to get the bumper back on and rewire the indicators.|||i'm assuming by indicators your talking about the back up sensors. if so the wires should match up by color. an easy temp. fix would be to strip the wires on both ends and twist the correct colors together then tape them up with electric tape. then try to screw the bumper back on in the correct spots. odds are the plastic has been ripped out so the screws won't line up correctly so i would use a bungie cord till you could get it to the collision shop.|||the indicators should just plug back in if the wirs are broken thn just twist them back together as for the bumber they are moulded so the only thing you can do is tie it up
Is a 1999 Toyota Land Cruiser better than a 2006 Toyota Avalon?
Im looking into buying a 1999 Toyota Land Cruiser with 129k miles or a 2006 Toyota Avalon with 65k miles. I like the Land Cruiser better because its for off road use and was built in Japan, buts its 7 years older with 2x the amount of miles. Please help.|||They are both in different categories. Luxury wise, they're about the same.
It all comes down to whether you want a SUV or sedan. Pretty much all the factors are equal like 4 doors, brand, comfort, etc.
I personally like the Land Cruiser more. Those are amazingly built cars.|||well, the avalon will last you MUCH longer. It's a more fuel efficient car, and will run forever.|||It depends on your lifestyle: Do you go fishing, camping, hiking, etc a lot? Do you have time to get an older vehicle repaired? If so, the LC is for you. Or do you like going to parties, shopping, etc., if so, the Avalon is for you. Personally, I would definitely go with the Avalon, because it is more luxurious, newer, and has fewer miles, so you will get more value for money from it probably.
Good luck!

How to make a Toyota echo into a parody "street racer" cheap?
I want to insult every idiot out there with a Japanese "hot rod" with under-glow, fart cans and so on. I intend to do this by creating a parody using a two door 2002 Toyota Echo and I need ideas that are cheap and easy. They don't have to function and the more ridiculous the better.|||What about the 1000's and 1000's of japanese tuner owners whom have no under glow neons, and exhaust mufflers are rigged up to advanced exhaust setups.
It maybe time to loose this sterotype of all japanese car owners after all my local club is a mix of American Muscle and Japanese Tuner cars and we all get along great. Also Japanese and American bike owners are in the club also.
In Japan an American drift team was drifting in there Mustangs whilst the Japanese crowd stood up to appluade them.
You should feel you should be going for the mass of modders out there if you feel this way whom mod cars badly and not just Japanese cars but a mass of American and German cars also.
Performance wise there are a mass of Japanese cars out there running high bhp figures, many have detuned engines this is only down to rules until January 2005 which restricted the power but the power is the power is there and often easy to release.
After all a Nissan 300zx holds speed record.
The JUN-BLITZ Bonneville Z32 holds the E/BMS class land speed record of 419.84 km/h (260.87 mph) set at the 1995 Bonneville Speed Trial. The vehicle was built as a partnership between JUN Auto and BLITZ. This record remains unbroken. How difficult would it be to turn a '92 Toyota Carolla automatic in to an electric conversion?
So I have a 1992 Toyota Carolla with an automatic transmission. I would like to turn it in to an electric car with the help of some friends. I've read a little about it but almost everything refers to cars with a manual transmission. What are some things I need to know? Is there a place that can walk me through things? Any and all information is greatly appreciated!|||there are several Yahoo groups to ask if there are others near you.
In the UK the Battey Vehicle Society will help http://www.batteryvehiclesociety.org.uk
a good (if a bit dated) guide is http://www.amazon.com/Build-Your-Own-Ele鈥?/a>
the basic conversion is take out all the infernal combustion bits: engine, fuel tank; cooling systems...
The electric motor is easiest connected to the old clutch plate (electric motors don't really need clutch or gearbox, it's just aconvenient point.)
Automatic transmission is not the easiest though, because they are inefficient and have a fluid clutch. You need to find a suitable shaft to connect to afer all the automatic gubbins. Or you could look to go for direct wheel drive. This is more efficient, but requires finding just the right motor. Mitsubushi do this on their 4 wheel drive rally cars, or the Ellica 8 wheeler. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t8t2c9WEr鈥?/a>
then add control system, batteries, heater, and brake servo pump.
You probably need to adjust the suspension to take acount of the new weight ditribution.
then enjoy smooth, quiet, smell free, low maintenance happy motoring|||The automatic transmission will make this conversion very difficult. Get another car that's manual transmission.
A great source is the EV discussion list http://www.evdl.org/
|||It would be easy to find a manual transmission at a salvage yard that would bolt right into your car. Most all models of cars had a manual tranny option. Go to the library and get these books...or buy them. Every thing you need to know is in them%26gt;

Who is the best dealership in Houston to purchase a Toyota Celica from for someone with no credit?
I want to purchase a newer Toyota Celica from a dealer in Houston. Who would be the best dealership for no hassling and financing a person with no credit? I am a student working on getting credit but so far have found it difficult finding a way to buy my dream car. Thanks!|||Fred Haas, either in Spring TX or On Hwy. 249, I'm not so sure about your credit or lack of , but they are pretty good people to work with ..
If not try a used car lot that's been in business for years, there are many, and must have a pretty good record to still be in business, I'm sure they would give you a good deal, and the credit or lack of would not be a problem . Everyone has to start somewhere
GOOD LUCK
.|||Get financing approval before you go car hunting. Try LendingTree.com. You can specify the dealerships that you wish to work with (i.e. Toyota) and then go from there.
The dealerships will contact you to look at the vehicle and you'll already be approved. It's the same setup if you'd go looking first - the only thing is you're approved up front and you don't go thru the trouble of testing a car - falling in love with the car - only to be told "Sorry you don't have enough credit."
Just don't try Sterling McCall Toyota - people often 'claim' to be the best for those with credit problems or no credit...but I've heard enough stories about this stealership to know its a ripoff. I'd visit them last.|||Good luck with that... I went looking around for Toyota Celicas and discovered that it was harder than I thought. I have a 1984 Toyota Celica that runs good right now, but I'd like to add some power to the little 4-banger engine. This car has a 22-RE, EFI. I am in Michigan but want to see a concert at the Toyota Center. Is it best to fly into Bush international and take a cab ?|||The cab will be pretty pricey down here.
If you have a friend who could give you a ride you should take them up on it.
It's about a 30 minute drive and the cab fare will probably be pushing $40-50.
If you could catch a shuttle to a downtown hotel (like the Hyatt or Double Tree) you might come out ahead.

How difficult would it be to turn a '92 Toyota Corolla automatic in to an electric conversion?

I've read a little about it but almost everything refers to cars with a manual transmission. What are some things I need to know? Is there a place that can walk me through things? Any and all information is greatly appreciated!|||There are kits for converting cars in general. I googled 'corolla electric conversion' and got quite a few hits. You might also rummage through the EV album (listed below). There's a search bar at the top which will cough up pages like:
http://www.evalbum.com/type/TOYO
One very reputable kit dealer I've used is at
http://www.kta-ev.com/
Phone Wistar and tell him what you're thinking.
Beware though that converting a car will tend to give you a range of around 40 miles (maybe that's ok!?). Sharpen your math pencil...
A 'normal' car carries about 12 gallons of gas or 433 kWh (kilowatt-hours) of energy. $2000 of deep cycle lead acid batteries will load up the car but only give you less than 30 kWh of energy. The efficiency of a gas engine is only about 35%. The efficiency of an electric motor is 90% but _lead_acid_ batteries have their own efficiency problem called the Peukert Effiect. In my EV, it's about 66%. The net efficiency of the EV will be about 60%. That means it's like you only have 18 kWh of energy, compared to the 433 kWh x .35 = 151 kWh for the original car. 18kWh/151kWh x normalCarRangeOf350miles = 40 miles.
There are other types of batteries 'out there'. Perhaps you can find some NiMH.
And the 1st guy was right: you can't use the automatic.
The Brant book is great on theory, why's and wherefore's.
The M. Brown book is more nuts and bolts.
I've read that it takes a couple of long weekends to do the conversion. That seems optimistic to me; it takes me a couple weekends to clean the garage...|||It wont be easy at all to do this you will need great amounts of money and time and I also think you cant do it on Automatic. But if you are spending the time to get rid of a fuel engine to put in a electric one I think you might as well gwt a new gearbox there are plenty of those for a 92 corolla|||It would be cheaper and easier to buy a new electric powered car.
You will have to replace everything under the hood apart from the steering column. Not to mention finding a proper electric motor and battery and the safety issues inherent to installing this equipment.|||Electric Car Conversion Kits

I have 2 spare toyota prius smart entry keys. It is possible to re-program them for my corolla-ultima? Is there any cross compatibility between toyota prius and toyota corolla's smary entry keys? If so how do I need to re program those keys for my corolla?|||Hi,
the first question I have is what vehicle the two spare Smart Keys were intended for, if any. Were they originally linked to a Prius?
Changing the Smart Key's coding is not something you can do at home or at an aftermarket/independent shop. They simply won't have the programming equipment.
You have to use a Toyota dealership to reprogram the Smart Keys, however you will run into a much bigger issue.
Smart Keys are linked to a specific vehicle's transponder/receiver system with coding through a specialty progamming computer.
To explain this, if you somehow lost both of your original, already-programmed Smart Keys for any Toyota/Lexus, you would not only have to buy new Smart Keys, but you would also have to replace the internal Smart Key transponder computer inside the vehicle itself.
It is a linked and internally-locked system and it will not accept new Smart Keys made without one of the original Smart Keys present to verify the original codes. One will not work without the other.
So, unless the Smart Keys you have have never been programmed to a Prius and are completely blank, you will not be able to link them to another vehicle, even if that vehicle has a Smart Key system. It doesn't matter if it is a Corolla or any other vehicle.|||No you cannot. It is like two separate streams running which never meet. Furthermore, just to programme a key you need a very sophisticated chip making equipment which costs around 拢6000 from China and Japan, so forget it, do not think too much of this possibility. Oh, one thing I forgot to tell you, do not believe these ebay advertisers who lure for programming techniques, they are just nonsense just to grab money.|||No, the frequencies are different. Now, a lesson for the professor...
Automotive locksmiths have the capability to reflash Toyota modules without replacement. We've been able to do this for several years now.

Does a 1985 toyota supra look anything like a 1985 toyota celica?
I have a 1985 toyota supra and some people say it is a 1985 toyota celica, am i right or are they.|||it is probably the celica supra you have. 1983 a celica version with bigger engine was introduced called celica supra . in 1986 4th gen celica became fwd. and now with its own individuality rwd supra is born. get some pictures on the net %26amp; compare.enjoy your clsssic icon. |||the difference is like heaven and earth
|||Visually their the same. I think the interior/engine are different. If you bought it with the supra badges and registration then its a supra.|||The 1985 Supra was based on the Celica and earlier models were called Celica Supra, so they are frequently confused.|||pics would be nice to compare.

Why is the US Government competing with Toyota?
Besides Toyota offering a superior car to "the big 3" and charging the same price, they have already put out cars that reveal their dedication to the environment, fuel efficiency, and freedom from oil dependence.
I believe I also read they have even worked towards replacing the materials used within the cars to make them more health friendly. They provide Americans with tons of jobs, and tons of money, and an undoubtedly quality product.
Because of the bailout situation, Toyota is being screwed.
All I know is, don't pay for your car twice and buy Ford, boycott those traitors and support a company that played by the rules, and legitimately WON.|||Psh, even with the bailout, the Toyota is still going to be a better car. The big 3 won't suddenly figure out how to run a car company just because the feds told them to. They'll just keep limping along for another five years before they ask for the next bailout.|||People hold Toyota on a pedestal. They arn't that great, i'm sorry, but they are just not. I have seen tons of Toyotas and hondas come into our shop with serious problems. It happens with any car company. I'm not saying Toyota is bad, i'm just saying people try to look past their flaws alot more than they would a domestic.
Example:
My car, a G6 coupe got an ok review, they said that the styling was dated on the car and the world didn't need another wedge body style. 2 years later the New accord and Altima come out with a VERY similar body style and are praised for their inovative styling. Trust me, they all look the same. I have had less problems with my car than my friend with a Camery, or my other friend with a matrix. It's all about taking care of your car.|||I agree that companies like Toyota and Honda are still making a superior product to the American car companies, but the bailout is meant to help save American jobs and keep the economy from getting even worse. If the big 3 continue to have production cutbacks it will not only mean job loses at those companies, but at their suppliers and dealers. Making these companies financially healthy helps everyone. Even those of us who do not buy their products.

How do I replace an ignition switch in a 93 toyota corolla without the key?
I lost the key to my 1993 toyota corolla and I need to replace the ignition switch. The manual says I need to have the key to replace the switch(wtf). I was wondering what would be the easiest way to replace it.|||If you havn't got the key, then you won't get the barrel out.
Either use a slide hammer(be careful not to brake the housing) or replace the entire steering lock assembly.

Does my '08 Toyota have a cigarette lighter or is that receptacle in the dash only for electric accessories?
That receptacle in my dash does not accept a lighter. But it will accept
accessories like my GPS or camera recharger. Does my Toyota have a lighter holder at all? Thanks.|||Many new Toyotas do not have lighters or ash trays. If there is no ash tray there is no lighter, do NOT put a lighter element into a power socket! Look in your owner's manual or ask your dealer for details.|||That receptacle is actually a cigarette lighter socket, just go to any auto parts store to find a lighter that is the right size for the Toyota.|||why not look at the owners manual for the answer ????

How do you turn off check engine light on 1996 toyota Avalon XLS?
How do I get rid of check engine light on a 1996 Toyota Avalon XLS myself (without spending $$), the light is there for a year, i showed it to a mechanic, he said its not a big deal. Now i m planning to sell this car and want to get rid of this the light (atleast for a month) before i show it to potential buyers.|||usually if u unhook the positive battery cable this will clear any codes, but if there is a promblem it will just come back on again|||I had something similar CHECK ENGINE LIGHT occur on a SIENNA XLE when traveling out of state. First I thought it was air pressure in tires, then I checked oil and the level was fine (no leaks). I wouldn't mind if it was local bec my mechanic is expert and I kept looking at owner's manual explanation of codes covering 3 pages. Anyway we stopped for lunch and then I went and filled up my tank. Guess what? Sure enough owner's manual was correct that my last stop for gas I did not secure %26amp; turn tight it enough.
FYI in our state emissions testing, they do test "gas cap" but maybe you own two Toyotas or have access to a friend's, bec otherwise this hunch might costs you $10 or more. Maybe you lost or left your Toyota gas cap and did not replace it with a genuine one?
Hope the Above Info might help!|||Bring the car to another mechanic. Toyotas are chronic for engine problems if you do not follow their maintenance book to the tee on oil changes and such. I have have had two Camrys, both 1996. Both had those lights go off, and both had engine problems.|||To get rid the engine light itself is easy, you can either unplug the battery cable or the EFI fuse for few minutes. By doing that you will reset the codes however. This is also not a permanent solution, the light will come back on in a few days if you have a "real" problem.
Assuming that your gas cap is tighten up properly (min 3 clicks) most likely you have something else more serious. Most common thing is the O2 sensors which there are 3 of them on yr type of vehicle.
Engine check light is an indicator to tell you that there's something wrong with your emission. Now the problem could be various from just a loose gas cap to the severe one which would cost you a bundle.
Since you're planning to sell the car, I would try to be as honestly possible to the prospected buyer. You could go to an auto parts store and have them check what's going on by pulling the code. Some charge some will do it for free, call to check before hand. Once you know what's wrong it's your decision to either fore go to replace or tell your buyer that there is an existing problem that s/he should be aware of by showing s/he the diagnostic report. At least that what I would do if I were in your position.|||Sorry, sounds like you are trying to be dishonest and give your problems to someone else. The best way is get it diagnosed, fix it and the light will be off. OR let it stay on and inform potential buyers that the car comes as is and you don't know what is wrong with it.|||ungplug would be simplest..lol..but most auto part stores have scan tools..and usually you can turn them off from the scan tool

What is the difference between Lexus and Toyota if they are the same?
I could not find any difference between Lexus and Toyota besides the logo. Everything is similar just one called Lexus other Toyota.|||That's pretty much it! They are made by the same company but you have to pay more for the Lexus logo. And Lexus probably offers better upgrades/options.|||Not really much. One is just more luxury. Lexus is just a glorified Toyota while a Acura is just a glorified Honda.|||Why, the Price of course!!!
That is the only difference, both come down the same factory assembly line, and its only the marketing department at the mother company, TOYOTA, that has people thinking these cars are different. Its the same thing with Nissan and Infiniti or Honda and Acura. a marketing ploy for people to spend more on a car thats not worth it.|||Yes but this is true for most car makers.
1. They have the luxury line.
They add a few things internal and external to make them somewhat different. You are also buying the name.
2. They have the cheap line.
Same engine, same body type, just different grill, lights, egnition key, little upgrades.
When it comes to gas purchasing, they are both the same.

How do you replace a serpentine belt for a 2005 Toyota Corolla? I need a diagram and instructions?
If anyone can help me find Toyota's instructions and a manual online, it would be greatly appreciated.|||its one big bolt on the belt tension spring it will just turn back if you use a wrench on it and give you enough slack to get old one out and put new ones in|||Replacing a serpentine belt on Japanese automobiles is not an easy task and you generally need a special tool to install it properly.

How do you replace the steering wheel on an 84 Toyota pickup?
So I have an 84 Toyota pickup and I went to take the steering wheel off to replace it the other day and after I took the front horn panel off there was, what seemed to be a lock or something. It looked brass and rectangular and it seemed to be holding the wheel on even after I removed the center nut. Anyone have any tips?|||Generally the steering wheel cannot withstand a very strong pull from you. You might want to rock the wheel a little while pulling one side then the other . Steering wheel puller are made for just that job. Some time i leave the nut screwed on a couple of threads so I don't smash the wheel into my face. How good is a Toyota Aygo when you have a baby?
Looking to purchase a toyota aygo and just wondered if anyone who had a baby, had one? How did you get on with boot space, fitting in a pram etc?|||This is a 4 seater car, with a small boot. Vitually all cars are 5 seater.
Put a baby seat in and it becomes a 3 seater. This car may be on the small side for what you want. The boot, in particular, may be too small for your needs.
You could go along to a Toyota dealer and compare it with the slightly larger Toyota Yaris, which I suspect will be more suited to your needs.
A friend, with a small child, had to make a similar choice and went for the Yaris instead, so why not go to the toyota garage and compare.|||The Mazda Sport is alot like that, the boot space is O.K, but you wouldnt et more than a stroller in the back.

How difficult would it be to turn a '92 Toyota Corolla automatic in to an electric conversion?
So I have a 1992 Toyota Corolla with an automatic transmission. I would like to turn it in to an electric car with the help of some friends. I've read a little about it but almost everything refers to cars with a manual transmission. What are some things I need to know? Is there a place that can walk me through things? Any and all information is greatly appreciated!|||Next to impossible.|||I have also considered this option....it is interesting but I decided not to do it because I travel a lot...as of right now...it would not be practical for me to do the conversion. Because you can usually only drive 50 miles per charge...If you live in a city where things are not too far apart...then it may be viable for you.
You can convert many manual cars into an electric car. It involves sourcing :
Batteries - $1,000 to $2,000
Motor - $1,000 to $2,000
Controller - $1,000 to $2,000
Adapter plate - $500 to $1,000
Other (motors, wiring, switches, etc.) - $500 to $1,000
There is a lot of labor involved. And you have to know what you are doing... The reason for manual transmission is that it has to be pinned down or locked in second gear. There is a lot of heavy labor, and fabrication. Reliability is 100% dependent on the fabrication skills and labor skills of the installer. Not to mention that the DC motors used for these conversions were not meant to be used in an outside environment for long...I have heard that these electric engines do not last for more than a few years, depending on use etc...of course you can have the motor rebuilt...but again labor costs..All said and done; it can be costly to convert a car.
In addition the motors are usually from electric forklifts etc...they don't have a high top speed nor can they go that far on a single charge. about 50 miles that diminishes if you are using a heater, or ac, or radio etc...plus it is slower than a gasoline engine.
Of course the plus is that no pollution or paying for gas...but consider that it cost about 2 grand or more to replace the batteries in a converted car....and those batteries only last a about 2 years.
Right now, assuming that you get 26 mpg...traveling a distance of 15000 mi a year...at cost of about $2 a gallon; then your total fuel cost for a year is $1154...If gas prices shoot to 3 dollars a gallon again...your annual fuel cost, assuming same miles driven; would be $1731....then it would be cheaper to do the electric conversion.
At the moment I think converting cars is an interesting concept. However, I am not too excited about using DC motors that were not designed for pulling a car...But if you want to know more I have posted a good link that will give you an overview of the process etc..|||its better if you have a manual transmission car.
i'm actually planning on doing this to a toyota supra mk3. i wanna make it fast.

Tips for driving my toyota camry on the beach?
Hi. Im planning on going to the brsxh in thr next few months. The one im going to is one of the few where you can freely drive on it.
Well, my friends and i have our little favorite spot on the beach thats about a mile down once you get through the entrance onto the beach.
Do yall have any good and safe driving tips for driving my 2001 4-cylinder toyota camry on that 1 mile stretch?|||this advice may seem obvious but it's always worth reminding people who want to do this sort of thing.... "EASY ON THE GAS!!!" obviously, press too hard and you're not going anywhere but down. And if you feel you're accelerating and nothing is happening, then let up on the gas or you'll find yourself in a hole!
Also, take into consideration the ride height of your vehicle- if it's too low then you'll be scooping up sand with your front bumper and eventually it'll break the plastic and stop you dead in your tracks. because of this, also watch out for the sand elevation.
and make sure you have the proper paperwork before trying this- most places (at least around here) you need a permit to do that and they'll inspect your vehicle to make sure it's ok to go on the beach. And keep off the dunes or they'll revoke the permit and you may even get strikes on your licence (happened to a friend of mine)|||keep the speed low and stay away from the sea ( wet sand equals a stuck car )

What are the differences between a Geo Prizm and a Toyota Corolla?
I know that the Geo Prizm and the Toyota Corolla share a lot of parts and were made at the same facility. What are the differences between the two cars, specifically those manufactured in the mid 90s.|||According to Wikipedia the Prizm had "small cosmetic differences, a GM Delco radio, and the lack of a rear stabilizer bar."|||Same car, built in same plant. The Toyota has better resale value. If you are shopping between the two and don't care about the badge, you can get a better price on the Geo. How do I change the transmission fluid on a 2003 toyota corolla?
While changing my oil, a friend mistakenly drained the transmission fluid instead, not noting how much was drained. So now I had to buy the Toyota T-IV transmission fluid and added about 1.5 qts of it already, and it's up to the "cold" notch on the dipstick (I added when the engine was cold). Is this the correct procedure? Shouldn't it be more than 1.5 qts? Should I just add up to the 3 qts that i've heard people do when doing a a drain/refill, or should i just leave it at 1.5 qts? Also should is it ok to check when cold, or should i warm it up first and then check? Your help is appreciated.|||yes, do the above, just a warning if you're doing it your first time, add little by little by little...even in 1/4 quarts increments or less if you have to. and yes, make sure the car is running when you check the level.|||1.5 is ok for now but make sure that your engine is running when you check it on the dip stick. If it is below the fill line then just add a half quart. Repeat this process until it is at the level specified on the dip stick. Remeber....engine must be running before you check (hot or cold). Happy Driving!|||run the car for at least 10 minutes, and shift from drive to neutral to reverse a few times while it's warming up. you can test the fluid while the car is in park, but running.

How do i change the headlight bulb in a 1989 toyota corolla?
I need to know how to remove the bulb from a 1989 toyota corolla and replace it as mine is burnt out. Also any idea what bulbs would be an appropriate replacement?|||On the back of the headlight, turn the base of the light bulb holder and then pull it out. The wires on them should be removable on the base of the bulbs. To remove the bulb from the base turn the bulb and it should be easy to oull out then replace the bulb using the same process. Make sure you wipe the light bulb face so that you leave no finger prints on them, some bulb will burn out with prints on them. Hope this helps.|||As someone already answered, there are services which will replace the bulb for you for a few bucks. Even Walmart auto dept will change out a headlight for you for less than $10 labor. Bulbs will cost you less than $10, too. so for about $20, you can have someone do it for you and not get all messed up.
It's not too complicated to change a headlamp. It's just kinda hard. I know it sounds like it's same thing, but this is why. Usually the bulb is held into place by a mount with a ring that turns to lock it in. It's just a big FREAKIN' PAIN to try and turn that plastic ring, with trying to fit your hands and fingers into the small space. If it's the driver side headlamp, sometimes you've got to take out battery so you've got room to work. It's not complicated, just a hassle.
Once you've got the ring turned, you'll see how it unlocks it. It doesn't unscrew like a pop bottle cap. Then you pull out the bulb. Think you can also remove the wiring from the part first before trying to move the locking ring which helps to not damage the wires. Once out, you merely replace the bulb like changing batteries, and then reassemble the whole thing again. It's much easier to pay the $20 to let someone else do it.
IMPORTANT!!!!!!!!!! If you do it yourself, you really really REALLY have to make sure that the new bulb has all your fingerprints off it. In fact, don't ever touch the bulb itself. This is why.
Bulbs are halogen which burn extremely hot, that's why they throw a brighter light down the road. But they are sooooo hot, that they can burn extremely easily. Your fingers have grease on them, part of your body's stuff. Not talking about engine or motor grease, this is a natural oil on your fingers and hands. If this gets onto the bulb, the oils from your hands will actually begin to cook, or fry, just like french fries in cookng grease, and that will cause the bulb to burn out or even maybe explode. So be careful, or you'll be replacing the bulb very soon again.|||If you really don't know the proper way to remove it and install the new light have it done by your local Toyota Dealer.

How do you set up an automated withdrawal payment with Toyota?
I want to setup an automated withdrawal payment from my checking account with Toyota, but am not sure how to do so.|||If you're smart, you won't. How difficult it is to change starter motor on a Toyota Carina?
I am planning to change the starter motor of a Toyota Carina 1.6, 1996 Petrol.

Um check the fuel filter first, thats in the front before the injector supply.

How come Nascar hasn't done anything about Toyota's dominance of the Nationwide series?
In the past Nascar would add an aero package or restrictor plate to curb manufacturer dominance. Why the hell haven't they done it to toyota yet? I remeber when Pontiac released the new Grandprix and was dominant Nascar couldn't kill their dominance fast enough, the same for Chevy, Ford %26amp; Dodge. Why the hell are they allowing Toyota to dominate? How would somebody go about surrendering their car back to toyota When payments can no longer be made?
My friend can't afford to keep her Toyota Matrix.|||She would have to contact the bank and tell them that she wants to do a voluntary repo. She will have to send them a return receipt letter stating her intentions and what dealer she is dropping it off at. make sure someone at the dealer signs something stating what time, name, mileage the vehicle was dropped off. Make sure she takes all kinds of pictures of the vehicle at time of drop off. Pictures of all the body, interior, odometer, vin plates, engine. This protects her. Then she can expent them to sell it at auction and then sue her for the difference of what they sold it for and what she owes.|||Don't do it. Sell the vehicle and pay the difference. If your do the voluntary repo, they will sell the vehicle for a WHOLE lot less than you can and then CHARGE you the remainder. Which do you want to do owe them $1,000 if you sell it or $4,000 if you let them sell it.... how much do you still owe on your car loan? also, how much is your car worth right now? even if it is worth less than you owe, it will probably be easier on you to sell it and get a loan for the difference. but if it's worth more than you owe, then you can sell it, pay off the loan, and have some money left over for another [crappier] car. not the happiest day of your life, but you'll feel a lot better after it's done, right?|||It will go on your credit report as a Reposetion eather way.

What is wrong with the high beam lights of my toyota 4runner 2002?
I have a Toyota 4Runner 2002 3.0TurboDiesel, and I have a problem with the headlights, the low beam head light works perfect, and the high beam head light works only when I pull the head light switch towards me (for a quick change of lights), but it does not work when I push the light switch forward (for a permanent change to high beam).
