How long will Toyota remain as the largest auto manufactorer in the world?

Toyota has replaced GM as the largest manufactorer of automobiles. It is by far the most profitable automaker.Which comapny has the potential to replace Toyota frm its dominant position.|||the first company to develop a good hydrogen car will be the next champion. GM is working on it as well as some other companies.....then no more need for Arab oil so they will not have any $$$ to support terrorists.....they will go back to their caves again like they did before we needed their oil making a more peaceful world again /|||Toyota will stay king until the greed steps in. The companies out of the the Baltic will be the next kings|||My guess is Toyota will remain at the top for awhile. To be #1 you have to a) completely dominate the American market and b) have both cheapo and luxury cars.

I suspect if Toyota were to be dethroned, it would be by GM again.|||I have noticed an exponential increase in Korean cars on the streets in my area. Hyundai has come a long way since its debut to the American market. I still don't like their cars, but they are getting better, and don't have the overhead that GM does with the Baby boom going into retirement. honestly (not to sound rude or cruel) I think when the baby boomers are gone, GM will finally have what it needs; financially; to turn itself around, the question remains will their styling and performance departments be able to turn the company around after all of this drama.

all in all, I think it is between these three companies: Hyundai, Chrysler, and ford.

I Love Chevrolet, but I don't see a bright spot in their future for quite a while.|||Toyota looks to stay in front throughout the hybrid generation of cars. Someone will have to get to the next generation of power technology ahead of Toyota to challenge them. Of course that's what most of the auto makers are trying to do.|||I think China will be the source for most of the new competition. Unfortunately, people seem to think that cheap=good. When this crap starts taking over our country, we're in big trouble. The Japanese cars weren't all that great when they first came over. They were just small and got good gas mileage. But they weren't even as advanced as Ford, who used a cast iron automatic transmission well into the 1980s. Never read Car and Driver for car information.
