and.same.as.any.other.car|||The normal maintenance is an oil and filter change plus tire rotation every 5,000 miles. You can do this yourself (but be sure to keep receipts and a log just in case). There are also the usual "inspections" to make sure everything's where it should be, but that's easy to do too.

There is an engine air filter and cabin air filter that you change every 15,000 miles. DIY is easy.

Every 30,000 miles is a drain and fill (never flush) of the transaxle. Again this is an easy DIY.

At 100,000 miles change the coolant and the spark plugs. These are better done by the dealer because it's hard to get the air out of the coolant lines and it's easy to break the igniters on the spark plugs. Note there are two separate coolant systems, but they both take the same type of coolant.

So it doesn't cost any more than any other car and a lot less than some (including many that I've owned).|||There are no maintenance requirements for the Hybrid system on the Prius. It is also warranted for 10 years and 150,000 miles (hybrid system) in california. The maintenance required is for the gasoline engine which is every 5,000. Since it was introduce in 2000 not one battery has been replaced on a Prius. I work for a Toyota dealer as the Fleet Manager.|||well its a toyota so it should not break down a lot though and mpg is great but upfrount cost and insurance may be to high for some|||Ask your Toyota dealer.
