Why is Toyota denying that the brake problem could be the electronic accelerator, and not the peddle?

It has been reported that our government is looking into the electronic failure of the Toyota accelerators as well as peddles and mats. Toyota does not want to hear this of course. This drive by wire technology replaces the normal design and relies upon electronic signals to accelerate your car instead of the standard physical connection between your foot peddle and the engine. Why is Toyota in denial again concerning this very plausible explanation?|||Because fixing something that is mechanical such as a pedal is way, way cheaper then having to fix an electronic computer problem. What will they do, wait until many, many people die to admit the real problem?|||If you look in NHTSA Office of Defect Investigations site for complaints, you'll see that just about every car maker has had some incidence of sudden accelleration problems and brake problems coincident to that. The common factor is electronlic controls. Toyota is in the spotlight as the whipping boy of the whole auto industry because of popularity and sensational press. It's like war. If they reveal specifically where attack is most effective to their opponents, they would concentrate all right on the target. If this is an external interfereance causing computer malfunction then the method should be kept secret and the solution should be protected to prevent future attack. It's like computer hacking and virus. You just create protection and hope for no future attack- try and stay ahead of it.|||YUPP ! It's all one great big conspiracy to kill off us 'wide eyes'.

Man; you really do hate Toyota. That must be because Toyota is the only manufacturer ever to sell a car to the public that had a driveability fault. WRONGO !!!!

FACT: 1989 FORD F150 pickups w/ 300cid motor and 5-speed manual + cruise.

FORD received a bunch of faulty cruise control modules for this particular configuration. If the cruise control was engaged at lower speeds it would accelerate the truck regardless of whether the driver tapped the brake or physically turned the cruise off at the switch. I can verify this because I had a brand new 1989 F150 that did this. And the only way to stop this was to turn off the ignition and disconnect the cruise servo from the accelerator linkage. There was never a recall issued for this problem.

FACT: pre 2007 Malibus w/ electric assist power steering

These car can suddenly jerk the steering wheel to the left putting your cat into opposing traffic. GM knows about this but there in no recall. I have a 2006 Malibu that has had every piece of the steering replaced with the exception of the steering wheel itself. No one in this household will drive this car. It's been collecting dust beside our garage for the past 7 months.|||Don't forget the Ford Pinto where the Ford Management knowingly released the car with defects and figured it was cheaper to pay the court settlements than to redesign the car.

Most electronics are designed to fail safe. Fly by wire has been in military aircraft for over 50 years and civilian aircraft and automobiles for 20.|||On my Camry the pedal itself sticks. As far as I know there's no way the electrical sensor can make the pedal itself stick partway down. If it were an electrical problem I would expect the car to suddenly accelerate without moving the pedal at all. This hasn't happened...to me at least.|||Yes, it could be something electronic. Steve wozniak said its probably, and i'm just paraphrasing him, something electronic or with the cars programing. Because they are worried about their image and not safety.

The best cars in case you did not know are American. There are American cars: fords, chevrolet, dodge, etc.. over 40+ years old still running as good or better then they did on day one. Don't believe me? Then go an look up the 1964 ford mustang, 1967 camaro, 1960s dart with a 318 or slant 6, etc.|||you belive way too much of what the goverment said, how many times have they been wrong, toyota knows the problemand guess what its the pedals not some electrical problems, why didnt anyone make this big a deal for other companies that had sticking pedals, yes its happened to all 3 american companies including hoda so youare just like the rest ,trying to find more things to complain about,i for 1 love my camry and in the 2 years ive drivin it ive never had a sticking pedal, soo what dose that say,its happened 5 times and north america, how many tires expoted on fird trucks or honda fits catching on fire, whats worse a pedal sticking or your honda fit just lighing up,befor you speak get your facts right|||They're denying it because they're lying crooks.|||Because they fixed it. And it was the pedals.
